Our new home. That we don't live in yet. But we're planning on living in. But only for a year...or 2...or maybe 3. Who knows?! You see, we bought the property so we could fix up the old home. But as we began digging around, we realized the old home does not have much resale value. There is no foundation under the log part of the house...that is 100 years old! That is right...our new (old) home is part of an old homestead from over 100 years ago! How cool is that? Very cool if you're into history! But sadly, not cool if you're ever going to resale the home sometime down the road. The log part of the home was added onto I believe around 50 years ago...please don't quote me on that, I'm not 100% sure on it! But something like that. So the new part of the home has a foundation...but not the old cabin part. So we planned on tearing the cabin side off. And then adding on. But then we discovered the thin walls. Plus, there were so many other things involved, like the high water table and the low foundation part of the home, we thought it would be more wise to start from scratch. So as of right now...we are fixing up the old home to live in while we build a new home! Eventually we'll either rent the old home or turn it into a shop! Or something else...we don't know! We're always changing our mind!
Now, lets talk about this home. I want to give you a clear picture of what this house was like when we bought it!
This was the only good photo of the kitchen cabinets that I could find, unfortunately it has an awkward photo of me talking on the phone! But here it is....the beautiful mint color from the 1970s, or whenever that color was popular! It's almost come back around...but I couldn't quite convince Micah it was worth keeping! The kitchen is part of the log cabin.
The "violet room". That carpet though! This room is also part of the cabin.
The "middle room"....it looks oddly familiar to my girly bedroom growing up! Aside from the carpet that is...It has wallpaper with those cute pictures of the cute little kid couples...but I can't remember what they are called!
Ahhhh....the orange carpet. If this doesn't scream '70s I don't know what does! And of course...that man posing...I don't know him!
Another picture of the beautiful living room. Don't ask what our sweet Timothy is doing...pooping, perhaps? Or contemplating his next move to drive his mama crazy? Who knows with that mischevious child! But that rock fireplace! So in love!
And the last room along with a horrible picture! The "blue room" as we'll call it!
There you have it! The photos of the old home that is about to undergo transformation...can't wait to share the rest of the photos with you!
